Use and maintenance of motorbikes
Primary maintenance
When the motorcycle has traveled a certain mileage (generally 1000-2000km), lubricant should be added to the parts that need to be lubricated according to regulations, and the exposed bolts and nuts of the vehicle should be tightened. This kind of maintenance work centered on lubrication and fastening is called primary maintenance. In addition to the routine maintenance items, the following items shall be added to the first level maintenance:
① For chain-driven motorcycles, the chain should be removed for cleaning; for belt-driven motorcycles, the pulley should be removed for cleaning.
② Clean the carburetor, air filter and fuel switch.
③ Remove the carbon deposit on the spark plug, and check and adjust the electrode gap.
④ Check whether the cable connectors of the whole vehicle are in good contact.
⑤ Check and adjust the free stroke of the clutch grip, accelerator handle, brake grip or pedal, and add lubricating oil to the control cable.
⑥ Lubricate the flexible shaft of the speedometer and tachometer with grease.
Replace the oil.
Secondary maintenance
Maintenance operations centered on inspection and adjustment are called secondary maintenance. Generally, the motorcycle should be maintained after driving 3000~6000km. In addition to the items of primary maintenance, the following items shall be added to the content of secondary maintenance:
① Remove the carbon deposits on the cylinder, cylinder head, piston, piston ring and muffler.
②Check the wear of the brake pads on the clutch friction plates and brake shoes, and adjust or replace them according to the wear.
③ Check and adjust the contact gap of the circuit breaker.
④ Check whether the axial runout and radial runout of the front and rear rims meet the requirements. If the runout is too large, adjust or replace it.
⑤ Check and adjust the valve clearance.
⑥ Adjust the position of the rear shock absorber appropriately.
⑦ Check and clean the carbon dust between the engine, the starter commutator and the commutator.
Level 3 maintenance
The maintenance work centered on the inspection and removal of hidden dangers after the disassembly of each assembly of the motorcycle is called level 3 maintenance. Level 3 maintenance is generally carried out after driving 6000~10000km, and should be checked at the motorcycle maintenance station.
①Disassemble the engine, remove the carbon deposits on the cylinder head, piston crown, piston ring, exhaust port, etc., check the gap between the piston and the cylinder wall, the connecting rod small end bearing and the piston pin, the big end bearing and the crankshaft pin, and check The runout of the left and right halves of the crankshaft, etc.
②Disassemble the clutch, check the free length of the clutch spring and the thickness of the friction plate, and replace the spring or friction plate if necessary.
③ Check the gears of the transmission for cracks, ablation, peeling and severe step wear.
④ Disassemble the steering column assembly, clean the steering column bearing, add enough grease, and adjust the clearance after reinstalling.
⑤ Disassemble the front shock absorber, check whether the free length of the front shock absorber spring meets the requirements, and replace the front shock absorber oil.
⑥ Check the wear of the brushes and commutator of the generator and starter, and replace them if necessary.
